The Weekend Report
By Philip Tuck
The games become sporadic and smaller as the EPT runs
The Full Tilt cash games.
With the action all focused on the EPT and its stop in Monte Carlo, the action online was very sporadic at any stake over $25/$50, although we did have a new feature introduced that will definitely make the action a lot more extreme in coming weeks – the introduction of ante tables. For those of you unfamiliar with the drastic effect the introduction of an ante has on games, it hugely increases the number of hands a player has to play, and as a result the number of big hands and variance increase dramatically.
These games have been running well at $25/$50 and occasionally higher. Here are a selection of hands from the biggest games that were running this week:
JohnnyBax gets it in with top set and holds: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4183233
The nut flush is good: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4183621
Erick Lindgren in all types of trouble here: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4183625
Brian hastings misses his draw but turns enough to keep him in the pot: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4183639
'Arbiannight' gets it in with a set and holds: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4184836
Another set holds against a big draw: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4184854
A brief $200/$400 game shipped this monster pot to Brian Townsend: http://www.pokerhand.org/?4186836
With the WSOP coming up, and the big games tending to become live ones to attract the thousands of live players that come chasing the massive scores that the WSOP brings, it is unlikely many big games will be running online. Hopefully the introduction of ante tables will help boost the scale and intensity of action at the lower stakes and we will still see a lot of big pots.
