Player Update: Andy McLEOD

He was willing to wager up to $100,000 that he would earn more money/SCOOP points than anyone else – and he got some takers!
James Obst takes down SCOOP Event #11 to move ahead in his $100,000 series prop bet....
Congratulations to James ‘Andy McLEOD’ Obst who emerged victorious in the PokerStars SCOOP Event #11 ($3,150 Mixed Hold ‘Em) for a staggering $184,000 last night.
And what is even more incredible – this is Obst’s THIRD online bracelet in less than 7 months! In September ’08 the Aussie took down the WCOOP PLO Re-Buys event for $98,280, to go with his FTOPS win in the $300 Razz (for $40,142) just a month earlier. To win 3 different online bracelets in 3 different forms of the game in such a short period of time is a true indicator of Obst’s outstanding ability as a poker player.
In the WCOOP Event he defeated Isaac ‘westmenloAA’ Baron in heads-up play and he had to beat an equally tough opponent, Steve ‘gboro780’ Gross, when 2-handed this time around. The likes of David ‘WhooooKidd’ Baker & Chris Moorman also went very deep in this event, finishing 7th & 8th respectively in the 6-max tournament.
On 28th December ’08 Obst also finished 2nd in the Stars Sunday Warm-Up special event with $1million guaranteed for $101,546 so he clearly raises his game for the biggest tourneys around. He also got his live career off the ground in January with a couple of cashes at the Aussie Millions, the biggest of which being for $7,4558 for a 11th place finish in the $2,000 NLH.
The SCOOP result could prove to be even more profitable for Obst – check out the full details here but he was willing to wager up to $100,000 that he would earn more money/SCOOP points than anyone else – and he got some takers! They were probably cursing their luck when Andy McLEOD overcame a significant chip disadvantage to take down Event #11 – to be fair, most players in the world would be cursing their luck if Obst sits next to them at the table.
